Kieran Culkin blew away any notion that Culkins were only worth
wild when they were screaming out loud upon applying aftershave. He gives the best performance of 2002 and demands your
attention as Igby Slocumb. He's witty, cynical, complicated, and always fascinating. He plays off of the excellent
ensemble cast as though it was completely natural to get beat up by them, watch them have a mental breakdown, get slapped
by them, get his heart broken by them, etc.. When Amanda Peet goes through her many emotions only through her facial
expressions in one pivotal scene, my heart broke for her. In summation, the film captures the insanity of family with
a very tender eye.
